Today, our microschool classroom looked a little different—because our classroom was nature! 🌿☀️
Our adventure took us to Bonnet Springs Park, where the kids spent the day exploring, learning, playing, and getting a little wet along the way!
We started by exploring the creek, where the students were able to get up close with nature. Along the way, we spotted dragonflies, ducks, squirrels, and other signs of wildlife. 🦆🐿️ The kids had the opportunity to slow down, observe their surroundings, ask questions, and simply enjoy being outdoors.
But even our adventures come with plenty of learning!
While exploring the water, we talked about dams and how they can change the movement and level of water. We also discussed soil erosion and how moving water can slowly carry soil away and change the land around it. Being able to actually see these things happening made the lesson so much more meaningful than simply reading about them in a book.
Of course, Florida sunshine called for a little cool-down, so we made a stop under the misters before finishing our adventure with some playtime at the park. 💦
And what better way to wrap up a great morning than with a pizza party for lunch! 🍕🎉
Today was all about nature, exploration, movement, friendship, and hands-on learning. These are the days that remind us that learning doesn’t always have to happen behind a desk. Sometimes the best classroom is right outside the door.
